Who better to explain SCG’s philosophy and approach than the brains behind the brand, Ria Saxton:

What happens when you first go into a company?

I love the first stages of problem solving; this is when the puzzle is presented. Many times a company knows it has a problem, and a general idea of what it is, but narrowing down that pain point and implementing a solution is where I come in.
How does Saxton Consulting Group tackle a problem? We believe that to really get to the bottom of a production, operations or workflow problem—any problem, really—you must do your due diligence and hear from everyone involved. In my experience, the biggest solutions (and cost savings) are usually found in the details or with the people who are on the periphery. Once we start digging, we uncover the problem fast and present the solution.

What are the biggest mistakes people make when trying to solve a workflow issue?

There are two mistakes: First, people assume they know the answer to a problem without doing a deep discovery. They then base their solution on that assumption. That is a very slippery slope to go down. Though it may fix a problem in the short term, it’s just a Band-Aid. The problem will surface again, and sometimes be bigger than it was originally.

Second, cost-savings cannot be the only driver for efficiency—there also has to be a need for ease-of-use, simple directions, palatable process changes. Looking at all the angles is what makes a solution fit.

What happens after the problem is identified?

I’ll call upon the experts I know — the SGC Collective— who have been in the industry for decades.
